For a fleeting moment I thought my 40" chest could fit into a small so I ditched the tags. Then after much ridicule from family members saying that I should never be seen in public wearing a garment so tight, I have decided to sell to someone who would fit into the cardi a lot better than I.

Since we're on the subject of selling...i'm selling a BNWT Indigo Melange Stark in large. Realized that I will not be using this in Miami weather very often, asking same price as other guy if anyone's interested.

Stark owners: how warm is the Stark cardigan? Right now, the only sweaters I have are thin merino wool pullovers... Is the Stark going to be much warmer?

Yeah it's warmer than thin merino sweaters, clearly, since it's thick virgin wool. Despite its looks, though, the Stark weave is reasonably loose, so it's not super warm. I wouldn't use it without layering in winter or cold fall. Wind kinda cuts through it. It's a lot more year-round than it might first appear.

I will likely be moving from Houston to Boston soon, So I'm trying to build up a warmer wardrobe. Houston averages above 90 F 8 months out of the year, while boston rarely reaches the 90s, so I'm sure I will be freezing most of the time. I'm hoping a Stark would help keep me alive.

LOL that's funny as I literally just picked up an indigo melange stark in large last week as well. I'm a little bit more north than you though, I'm hoping I can still get some use out of mine. SNS is a great product, especially on discount.



CD-you're crazy if you think all you need for Boston winter is just a stark. I freeze in wool coat with layers underneath with a wool scarf when I visit friends in Philly and NYC in the winter. You live in a hot climate, you don't handle the north's cold very well.

I've always wanted a stark, and I was hoping that it could serve as a very warm and useful and essential layering piece... Am I just deluding myself?

What else would it be? It's definitely warm, and it's definitely a layering piece. You can't wear it by itself in the depths of winter, but what do you think this is, Canada Goose?

As I remember Stark it's fairly loosely knitted, so I would say if you are going to use it as an external layer, I would say 7C or above for it to be warm enough, maybe even warmer.

As a layering piece it depends on the jacket.

That's too cold, man. 55F is the lower limit, imo.
