Hi folks,

I am looking for a cheap source for Sperry Topsider Boat Shoes that can be bought either in Toronto, Canada, or online continental shipping. Unfortunately, the BS forum does not turn up 9.5Ds very often and the local stores seem to be selling them for around $80.

Any advice would be a great help,

Florian

$80 is not a lot for a quality pair of shoes in this day and age, my friend. You could do much worse for a boat shoe.

$80 for boat shoes?? Thats insane. They are not worth $80. I mean damn they are as common as chucks.

Chucks are like $45 nowadays man, and they're worth approximately $5 if you stick with the Vietnamese child labor they use. Stuff costs money in 2009. $80 is what a boring steak house dinner for two with a couple beers and a good tip might cost you.

Yeah I get this is style forum and everything where people spend ludicrous amounts of money on clothes, but some people don't like breaking the bank on everything they buy. And yeah 80$ is breaking the bank if you're a broke ass nucka such as myself

OP, wait for sale time, I got some sperry bluepoint chukkas at 50% at a local shoe place here in London.

I know the price of chucks. I was just trying to point out that you are starting to see them as much as chucks and think its stupid to pay $80 for something that basically everyone and there mom is wearing. But its true at the right store you can get them cheaper.

Why would you equate price to popularity? Just because everyone wears jeans, should you not buy them for more than $30 or something equally arbitrary?

I guess I shouldnt have gone on the rant on the popularity vs price. I guess its just that I know alot of people who have bought Sperry's just to complete the "whats in" look and not for the comfort factor. However personally I dont feel that sperry's are worth more then $45 tops. There just not that good quality. Im sure there are those who will scold me for my little rant but hey everyones got an opinion.

I'm in Toronto as well and got a pair that looks to be brand new for $10 at a vintage store on Dundas West (just West of Ossington on the south side). They had a $60 price tag on them, but for some reason they were selling a bunch of there shoes for $10. Worth checking out.
