Steven Alan - Page 2

The Fall offerings are simply fantastic and almost all made in the USA. Last year, SA got away from made in the USA and from what I hear, they took a beating for it. I say check out their Fall collection, especially the flannels and the wool coats made from Woolrich wool.

Who said full size? I wear medium in both. Read above Steven Alan is slightly smaller.

Anyway, great brand that's a little overpriced. Of course the lack of one-off, bleeding edge, eurotrash fashions will make certain folks bored.

To the threadstarter, don't be confused when some posters claim that steven alan is oversized. The people saying that probably think all shirts are meant to be sized like BoO, Hickey, etc. If it helps, I have a few Steven Alan reverse seam shirts in size medium and the pit to pit measurements on them is 21".

Okay sry guys, I rescind my dbag comments.

I'm not terribly impressed with Steven Alan.

I purchased the western snap-front shirt that they made, and while the fabric is great, the sizing is ridiculous. I'm not a guy to wear a shirt like a second skin, and I wear a comfortable medium, but this shirt is easily a large. The joke is the site said that it was a tailored slim fit, and to order sizing accordingly. I can't imagine what their classic shirts fit like.

Fail. A word of advice: insults are likely to be much more on point if you do a little research first.

are the sweaters and such oversized as well? i wanted to buy one of their cardigans that I haven't tried on... i bought a small SA cardigan and it doesnt fit me...so I figured medium would fit....ideas? (i typically wear a small actually....def a small in j crew shirts at least.)
I have several SA shirts and would consider them good quality material, although their retail price is a bit high. Fit depends on body type. I have a stockier build, so these shirts fit my frame better than brands such as BoO. I find these run true to size. I am a L in both SA and J Crew.

Yeah I don't get him either...it's pretty common to size down in J.Crew because their stuff is so damn big.

Right it's slightly smaller than a baggy J.Crew. What size do you wear in other brands? I'm willing to bet it's a L, or your J.Crew/S.Alan stuff fits baggy.

Check it...I'm a small in J. Crew, BoO, SA, EG, WWM, Rag & Bone....etc. and no bagginess on the Crew and and SA stuff.

Pass

What research needs to be done? Classic American style with subtle nuances.

Let's duke it out at:

I'll be there at 6pm sharp

OK, I'll do a little...
Mine:
(M) Steven Alan reverse seam shirts are 21" pit to pit. (+1 Timbaland)
(M) J.Crew Secret Wash button-down shirt 22" pit to pit.
Not mine:
(L) A.P.C. Pit-to-pit: 20.5" http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=88593

to the op--DO be confused. my recently purchased (via gilt) reverse seam shirt in size SMALL has the same 21" pit-to-pit measurement.

mine happens to be one of the made-in-peru versions so that could explain the discrepancy

Interesting. I have 4 SA Reverse Seam shirts (medium) and they were all made in the USA and have the same pit to pit measurement of 21". Maybe the foreign made shirts are the reason for all the discrepancies.

Not everything from Europe is Eurotrash, and it's not necessarily a bad word.

SSniceguy: Marseilles is amazing! Have a great trip. Try La Miramar. Take lots of photos.
SSdick: Maybe you should learn to spell it it before eating your peasant food food. Be sure to pack your eurotrash banana hammock.

^That's a joke, seriously, have a great time. Although fashion week is a great time to be in New York, I'm quite jealous

Fashion night out tonight! Let me know if anyone needs me to pick anything up for them. SA or otherwise.
