I DO realize how great it was to have the unofficial site up, but that was aqhong making that as a third party and I didn't have any real input or direction on that, and he was doing it on his free time with no compensation, so I don't want to bug him about it now. Anyway, I am busy as well, and we are busy making clothes and dealing with everything that comes along, so we have things to do in the mean time.
I do also like a bit of secrecy - what I make at any given time is the house special. If you don't want to follow the discussion here and on sufu, you'll probably miss out.... and if you miss out on it at the time, chances are, you aren't gonna be able to put it off and get it later - fabrics and materials are available in finite, limited numbers, I get sick of seeing the same thing and want to change it up, I learn and visualize new things all the time and want to incorporate that knowledge I get into my new clothes, there's a lot of factors for change.
Where I am now is not where I was a year and a half ago. I go through like one or two prototypes nowadays max, I am pretty good at selecting all the right stuff, visualizing the finished product in both look and feel; I'm getting good at this, if I can toot my own horn here. If you liked what I made a year ago, the stuff I have out now will blow you away, just the subtle changes. The other day i went to the textile and leather markets; what took me a whole week to do a year ago now only takes me like 2 hours, to go around buying all the bits and pieces for the different stuff.
I went to the workshop yesterday as well, peacoats all shipped except for a cracked pepper one, because I'm still deciding if it gets horn or wood buttons on it, and then I want to get some pics of it for you guys too. Chesterfields are moving, some are there waiting to be taken to the buttonhole machine. I have 5 bombers at my house I have to finish up by hand and send out on Monday. Other leathers are being worked on. WV's are moving, I had my girl try on an XS:
I put a windbreaking laminate on the back of the melton on the WV this time, which the prototype did not get. It's not visible and no one would know, but I did this because it adds some welcome thickness and stiffness to the fabric that makes things like the button placket edges more structured and straight, this varsity has a real heft to it and feels so solid and clean. Brad Pitt is like all-knowing of TOJ varsity jackets and I'm pretty sure he's gonna wee his pants when he gets his new WV, it's noticeably improved and so much more in the hands.
