The leather now has that distinct It also shrank a bit, though definitely not a full size. Maybe a 1/2 size or so. It fits the same over a thin pullover as it did over a rather thick sweatshirt before it was washed, and the sleeves are slightly shorter I may need to put just a touch of conditioner on it (dunno yet, it's a tradeoff between the matte finish and the suppleness of the leather), but I'm going to just kneed the jacket a bit with my hands, and see what a few days of wear does first. Anyway, looks really sharp. I'm hoping that it will soften up a bit, but at the same time, show some wear quicker. Jitrois had some remarkable jackets in about 03 like this.

Hey Drew, how about trying a cracked suede? Margiela and Jitrois both did this a while back.

I have been wanting to get a really worn in TOJ jacket to condition the high-wear areas, like the high points of the inner arms, cuffs, shoulders, chest, kidneys, and lower front. I think it'd give it a nice contrast, like a true vintage patina. It'll take a while for it to really bloom and calander the finish on it, either way, but I think some leather conditioner applied judiciously (ie not a full all-over conditioner treatment) would look nice.

Been thinking about leather processing but the really artisanal services are not available to me. I was interested in maybe hammering or flaming stuff down with a butane torch, I dunno, lol. Maybe waxed suede that later gets a wash and a burn? My girlfriend will kick me out if I do any of this at home.

Re: colors... It's hard to get an exact match on a shade or tone, because there's a lot of colors but beyond your basic colors, it's a just a luck of the draw thing. I'd had people asking about burgundy before but I wasn't able to find any until just recently, and only enough for that one jacket. We take requests for certain colors and match them to the best of our ability, and we can usually get really close, but exact color for color matching is not possible.

That burgundy is great.

Unrelated: the calf on my new jacket was pretty unexpectedly soft. I like it; when did that happen?

I can vouch for the color matching. I've been wanting a navy perfecto since I saw visvim drop the navy strabler last season and low and behold, ToJ comes to the rescue. I got mine in today, I'll try to get some pics up, but the navy is really subtle (which is what I wanted) so artificial light won't do it any justice.

Since your inventory is on a luck of the draw thing to some extent, will you be posting here whenever you get particular materials (and how much they will cost?) I think it'd be awesome to have that out there (unless it already is on the site somewhere or something)

no, that is way too much effort for the tire kickers, you don't realize the size of the garment district I deal with, and these things move much too fast to offer them in pictures and then go back and try to get them, praying it's still in stock. I need people to know what they want so that we can narrow it down as close as possible, and I am asking that people give me a little leeway on color matching and a possible alternative color choice if not available, that is all.

Awesome. I'll make the order once I get some acceptance letters. Thanks!

Yeah I can do that. Do you have any perfectly fitting shirts right now or anything that would work as a baseline from which to add/subtract here and there?

Just in case this happens to anyone else - my Moto is being held for processing in customs in LA right now, i called and they said because of the recent asian holiday they are extremely backed up and it may take up to a week just to get it out the door and on its way to me. Just an FYI.

Asian holiday was like 3 weeks ago, and I am still feeling that shit until now with the peacoats. Some people may not understand the way the rest of the world works but yeah that is one factor of the process.

Chinese New Year = Asian Christmas, essentially. Took me 8 weeks to get a package from U.S in that time, so I can imagine that similar hold ups around the world occur.

damn that sucks.. hopefully it doesn't take that long -- mind luckily landed in SF and was released within ~18 hours. On the other hand, some recent purchases from bureau and oi polloi that landed in new york have been ridiculous.. landed in New York on the 25th, finally got it yesterday..

^^Damn that would suck...

The lady on the phone said it could take a week and that "it looks like christmas up in here" so.. makes sense.
