Saddle Shoes?

I've had a pair of Nordstrom bucks (link) that have served me well as a versatile business casual shoe. They're severely worn out. I was going to replace them with another pair, but these caught my eye (in buck suede, though the full grain chilis are nice, too). I feel like they're nicely casual/academic (I wear khakis/cords/moleskin pants to work mostly).

Any opinions? Less adaptable? More casual? More showy? Wearable year-round?
I'm just wondering if I'll be able to wear them as much as I wore the plain brown suede bucks...

They are classic. What used to be called the "preppy" look. They are a good casual shoe and go well with any khakis (usually regardless of color). Buy 'em.

I think they're a little less versatile than the pair you are replacing, but if you like them, go for it. I've been eyeing a pair myself.

But very nice, nevertheless.

Much less versatile, but still nice. I have both bucks and saddle shoes, and the bucks get much more use. Partly this is because the saddle shoes are far more memorable -- they tend to draw attention, so I don't wear them as often.

I like both of those. I have the one on the left, and I'm getting the one on the right when I go back to Nordstrom.

Thanks for the opinions. I'll probably get them, despite my concerns about wearability and, as DocHolliday mentioned, their perceived notability. I mean, for $80, maybe I'll just get both! Wonder if they'll go on sale at the Nordstrom anniversary sale...

I have the Allen Edmonds 'shelton' and a Johnston Murphy pair that I've worn over the past 10 years that are still going strong. The last shape of saddle shoes is very comfortable and I can wear them all day without feeling it.

Probably not. I've never seen Nordstrom brand shoes go on sale.
