Men's Room Observation....

Okay. I'm 60 years old and I've been around.... We raised a daughter and son, now ages 31 and 26, and somehow I always seemed to avoid having to take the daughter into a men's room when I needed to go. Somehow we never found it necessary. Since I started seeing young girls in men's rooms, with men at the urinals, etc., I've found it disgusting. Of course, the older the child the more disgusting. I've seen some as old as 3 or perhaps even 5.
Today I witnessed a new low.... I was in a suburban mall men's room, at the urinal, and heard coming from a stall a man's voice saying to obviously a child: "Don't touch it.... just don't touch it." I was thinking here was likely a guy with his young son, the son had to go number two, and the father was saying to him something about not sitting directly on the seat, or perhaps not sitting on it until he placed bathroom tissue on it - whatever.
When I got to the sink area I, out of almost uncouscious curiosity, looked under the stall's walls just to get some comfort, perhaps, that this was a dad and a little boy, like millions have done in men's room before them. I had a young son and could identify, and even with my own father sseemingly a hundred years back. But then I saw it - the man was sitting on the toilet, and the child wore little pastel-colored shoes - it was a girl. He was saying to her something about after this they can go and get for her a "Snow White" costume, or whatever, to wear for Haloween.
Okay, the scene: Dad going number two in a stall in a men's room, young girl - maybe 4 or 5 standing there while he's on the toilet. Revolting!
If he just couldn't stand the most remote possibility something could happen to the girl if she were to wait just outside the men's room door, let alone stand in the men's room while he went in the stall, perhaps she could have stood just inside the entrance of the men's room? Incidentally, I believe there was one of these "family restrooms" nearby and definitely at least several other such restrooms in the large mall.
Comments, please....

I dunno. It's awkward, sure. I've been in restrooms and seen it before. But what are his other options? I know if I had a daughter, or even with my younger nephews or cousins, I wouldn't be comfortable telling them to stand outside alone in the hallway. Not in 99% of places at least.

i'd rather take a shit directly on my kid than leave them alone in a hallway.

I wouldn't leave them in the hall either, but I wouldn't make them watch me take a dump. They can stand at the very least on the other side of the stall door. I know it might make other people feel uncomfortable but still... Quite a story

Not a big deal to me.

I can't even get my toddler to stand still in one spot when she's right in front of me, much less on the other side of a door. I'd rather risk my daughter the "trauma" of watching me take a dump compared to that of being kidnapped by some asshole, repeatedly raped, and forced to live in his backyard for 15 years.

I'd imagine that this is what those child leashes are for. Then the father could take a dump with the kid on the other side of the stall door with a leash attached and not worry. The father gets to take dump in peace and kid doesn't have to watch her father take a dump, which is pretty disgusting imo.

All this fear of henous crime....
The men's room, like a ladies' room and I believe also a "family" room, was off a short corridor just off the mall's main food court. Lots of people in the food court. Certainly not an isolated place or particular high crime area, etc. Perhaps the father would do this anywhere, perhaps it was very unusual - I have no idea. I'm guessing he didn't give it too much thought.

P.S. not yet a father, or even married for that matter..., but I would be extra careful with kids these days

I am not really sure what you are finding to be so "revolting" and "disgusting". If it was a boy with his father or a girl with her mother then it would be fine if they were in the stall together while the parent took a dump?

It's a lose/lose...kid in the stall vs. left alone...

just hold it till you get home

The kids should just stand outside the stall door IMO.

What's the big deal?

Frankly I find your actions more creepy than anything else.

+1. If at all possible, I'd just try to hold it until I get home.

I don't recall ever taking a crap with my daughter watching, but she is six years old, and just this past weekend I took her in the men's room to use the toilet. If someone truly has a problem with this, then he needs to wait outside until we're/she's done.
