These are on Gilt right now and I was thinking about buying some boots for winter. (http://www.gilt.com/s/antrizi3673/pr...le_id=39725075)

Will these survive a New England winter? Any up to date thoughts on their quality?

I wanted those as well. Might just pony up for a tricker's stowe instead, I think you can occasionally get lucky and get the stowe on ebay for $250~300. I would imagine that the Tricker's is the better constructed boot.

I ending up ordering the Marrone. They sure look nice on the site. I'll let you know what I think of them when they come.

These are on Gilt every week now. Varvatos status.

I just received these boots I had ordered from Gilt. I noticed another member in the S&D forum bought the same thing in the other color.

They were absolute garbage. They arrived with the tongue of the boot already torn! This was not hugely surprising as the "leather" is more like cheap plastic. The color was also quite different from the photo on the web site.

Needless to say I have requested a return. So far this has been a terrible experience with Gilt. I didn't expect to get something both cheap and damaged. I asked for a cash refund since they sent me damaged goods; we'll see what they say.

Sorry to hear it. Thanks for posting your experience; I was thinking of ordering a pair or their shoes in a similar color, but after hearing your review I won't risk it.

I too bought a pair of Antonio Maurizi Wingtip Ankle Boots in the Castagno color from Gilt. I wanted these because I thought it was a cheaper winter boot alternative to wolverine 1000 mile, or alden indy. One problem: this is not a winter boot! I sent them back immediately. The photos of the boot on Gilt make the boot look better than reality. Sent them back and ordered the Indys of Shoemart

These are up again on Gilt. Testonis were earlier this week, but they were sold out by the time I saw them.

Quality must have changed in recent years. I have two pairs in my regular rotation since 2004 and they've held up well.

While wondering around Zurich last week Saturday, I stumbled across a store called Schuh Cafe. Had a nice collection of beautiful Italian shoes and some of the nicest from this Antonio Maurizi.

I was so struck by this oxford, I had to buy it. Very relaxed and casual.

Its my everyday office and casual shoe now and it is very comfortable. All leather and the quality seems good to me. I have worn it for a five days straight now and it looks more beautiful as the leather breaks in.

I was a bit concerned when I read the comments on the thread but I guess its a problem with the Gilt stock. I usually have reservations about services like Gilt because I feel they tend to sell goods that are not A1 pristine condition. Like an outlet shop for designer goods. Which probably explains the issues that the people who bought from Gilt are experiencing.

I will keep you guys posted as I continue to wear these beautiful shoes and let you know if I encounter any issues.

Till then, I will have to say they are beautiful and have held up well so far.

Gilt just had some at $99 plus their usual shipping. Click on to the gilt essentials sale and click on loafers (no idea of why they're here).

I just got sucked into buying the brown suede chelsea boots (I also bought brown pebble grained chucks which appear to be a varvatos collab), since I had thought about it before when it was higher. Will report back on this when it arrives. Probably a disappointing buy, but we will see.

Just received the box with the order of the wingtip A. Maurizi, seemed a good deal and bought on a whim. Well I open the box to find only ONE shoe, the left one WTF.

I immediately call Gilt's CS and ask them to please look for the other shoe, or offer me a replacement. The very curt representative plainly says SOL, no more, we'll refund but no cigar. Had to force the lady to offer me more than that, maybe other models in the same size but not very willing.

So I'm stuck with one left shoe. Yes it didn't cost me anything but it was a major buzkill

Maybe I should save it to throw at a politician, or to hang from my rearview mirror.....nahhh

Kinda hoping that it is an April 1st joke but I know it isn't.

My AM lefty is looking for its pair, come on shoes don't just dissapear, GILT...start looking come on

Will you find it hard to replace a right shoe. My experience is if they are thongs/flip flops you will always find a spare one in the street or on a beach. This situation I doubt.

Yes and no. You also get them in smaller independent shops in Europe. I bought the one pair I have in Stockholm, IIRC, two years ago. They're a sort of very light chestnut, which turned out to not really go with anything except jeans, but they've so far turned into an interesting antiqueing project - I think they'll get extensive use this summer.

I think I paid the equivalent of $80 - 100 for them, probably on sale.

Though I may be mistaken I am pretty sure that Antonio Maurizi is not a part of the Nordstrom Product Group (house brands). I believe that it is an affiliate of Gordon Rush.

Gilt have them for $199-$299. Where Gilt claims the RRP on these $650 !! They do look ok but I can’t justify spending $300 on a shoe where leather quality and construction is questionable. I prefer spending few extra $$ to get AE.
