home gym--dumbells (powerblocks) vs. barbell setup - Page 2

this all depends on what you are looking to accomplish. get big? get toned? core training with balance? my home gym setup is powerblocks (45 lb.), the powerblock bench, a stability ball, medicine balls, and a jump rope. my goal is core strength and stamina. i can get an amazing, varied workout in a relatively short session time. whatever you do, don't ignore the legs.

My goals are to get better tone overall, grow a little bit in the upper body (but not so much that shirts get too tight), and gain a little space in the thighs of my pants. I don't know enough about biomechanics to intuit whether BB or DB workouts would be better for size and tone. I'm happy to keep getting stronger in the thighs as long as I have a way to keep size down. Would doing a lot of running and pilates help keep the quads & hams long, rather than bulky?

considering how skinny you are, it's not like you're gonna wake up one day and be like 'OMG IM HUGE'. just work the legs until you get them to where you want. it'll help to develop the upper body.

Instead of weightlifting equipment, perhaps you should invest in a purse and an eating disorder?
