Low Country Boils & football

I love fall. What a great weekend -
Saturday - "front-yard tailgating" today - bringing the dish and flatscreen out into the front yard, keg, grill. outdoor pool, and watch football all day long.

Sunday - having a low country boil at my place. Bushel of oysters fresh off the boat from Apalachicola, ten pounds of shrimp also just off the boat, six pounds of locally grown and made sausage, and five pounds of blue crab. Cook in a pot with corn, potatoes, onions from just up the road. Awesome. Accompanied by watermelon, with and w/o vodka, homemade cornbread, and gator tail. Block party immediately afterward. Cornhole & horseshoe tournaments.

Monday - tailgating for real. My best friend and I share the same birthday so should be a great time. Tailgating all day for the FSU v. Miami game and then going to the game.

Life is great.

Are you usually a mean fuck, or is it just today? Tomorrow, I'll be attending a Maryland steamed crab, clams, mussels, burgers and beers cookout. And football, too.

Sweet plans, damn how I miss a god crab boil!

I've never done the vodka watermelon thing but with how abundant they are here, I've always considered it. Is it just gimmicky or is the result actually tasty?

It's basically a good way to deliver copious amounts of vodka into your system.

Yes, vodka watermelon gets you loaded quickly. Good stuff though.

Sounds great! I have a question though. What do you use for spices in the boil? Do you just use the seafood or some spice mix. I'm anxious to try this at home. Cheers.
