I wore it to the tailor today and he asked me if I was buying bespoke shirts. I might be a lucky exception, but I can't find a single measurement I'd change.

Hi All,

I'm new to the posting, but I've read and learned a lot. It was the positive reviews here that lead me to finally try Modern Tailor with the trial shirt. I can't find shirts that fit anywhere (6'6", 240lbs). I'm looking for some advice to fine tune my fit although I don't think it's all that bad now, I just need a trained eye to help me out.

All in all, so far it's been a very good experience, they went into production the day after I placed my order as I tried to change from placket to no placket but was too late. I received my shirt about two weeks after the order was placed which was fine with me (strike might have had something to do with that).

Have a look guys, I was thinking I could probably increase all body sizes by half and inch, I like that it falls flat on my lower back though. Might increase the armholes slightly and the bicep measurements, it looks okay as is, but doesn't afford much freedom of movement. I'm new to high armholes, did I go overboard? They really feel like they're hugging my armpits.

The biggest concern I have now the shoulders fold under when I raise my arms (especially when I raise my arms 45degrees). Could I resolve this by shortening the yoke and lengthening the arms? Maybe adding box pleats on the back would work too.

I'm all ears, let me know what you think?

Yes, bring in the shoulders and lengthen the arm correspondingly. I'd shrink the hip a bit, and yes you should probably increase the armhole and chest size too. I initially made my shirts fit me in those areas the way yours fits, and found it just wasn't comfortable to move and work during the day. Bicep looks fine to me though.

BTW I got my shirt fixed for free after a long email correspondence, its much better now. Nevertheless, I will probably cut down the mid section and increase the arm holes on my next shirt. Feel really stupid for missing the Holiday sale though. I really need to get a tailored white dress shirt. Are there any coupons floating around? I don't want to wait for the next sale to come around.

@cdgerman: I agree with david's thoughts. Def bring in the shoulders and slim up the hips. Looks good though.

EDIT: oops this is not the official moderntailor.com thread. Ooops would delete post but can't

Here are the measurements I used (should I change any of them for next time?): http://i.imgur.com/4LHBE.png

Here are my thoughts (correct me if I am wrong):

- Collar too big (go down to 39cm)
- Cuffs too big (go down to 20cm)
- There is some weird folding near the armpits (I have no idea how to fix that - Help!)

Overall I am happy for what I paid, and I can finally show some cuff under a blazer (I have extremely long arms).

Thx.

The collar is not too big, I would keep it the same size.  Your sleeves look a little too baggy, along with the waist.  Those slouchy pleated pants aren't helping either.  You're a thin guy, the last thing you should ever have in your closet is pants with pleats.

Yoke looks like its at least two inches too long on each side.  Keep in mind when you shorten the yoke measurement you might have to add some to the sleeve length to compensate.

One thing I noticed, is your right shoulder really that much lower than your left?  Look at the difference in height where your hands are.

Hey guys,

I thought I'd let the experts critique my trial shirt from MT.

Heres the sizes I used for this shirt:

I feel like the armhole is really tight. There is also a little bit of mushrooming at the waist. What do you guys think?

Got it figured out now.
