+1. Yeah, that would be nice alternative as well.

I emailed them about this exact issue: I would like my free gift b/c it mildly relieves the annoyance of paying shipping (why does that piss me off so much w/ online companies...oh yeah, b/c 90% of everything I buy has free shipping via amazon prime) but there tie selection sucks and returning customers don't want stupid fabric samples every time they order 5+ shirts, what kind of incentive is that??? Anyway, here is there response:

...there's actually an important marketing consideration about the free ties. First, we let customer choose a free gift to market our 'ties' and cufflinks selection. This gift has nothing to do with their purchase, it is for us to make customers aware that we have other products as well. It is a way for us to express our gratitude and you are welcome to reject it or not ask for it at all.

Second, for loyal customers, those who order more than $100 worth per order (sometimes $150 minimum, depends on our sales), we give loyalty vouchers worth $5 to $10.

The shipping in fact is already subsidized. Have a look at the shipping slip that EMS or DHL sends. You will notice that the shipping we charge, which is $10 for the first 2 shirts are actually low compared to what is charged to us by the Shipping company. This is of course dependent on location. Some locations we have to pay $12 per shirt and only charge customer $10. But we want to keep our system simple so we only charge $10."

Just placed an order for the first 'test' shirt. $40 in total (split yoke+thick MoP buttons) in the 2 ply black fabric. I chose black partly because I don't have a black shirt and it would work well for going out in, and also the 1 ply white looks very thin, perhaps even too thin.

I'm interested to see how fast this really is; I'm estimating a delivery of... December 1st-3rd

why split yoke on a solid pattern?

hi there, likely we will meet the 21 business days guarantee period. sales period has just finished and we're close to full capacity now. normally though we finish a shirt within 7 business days + delivery. but at the current growth rate, we need to develop more capacity.

cheers,
E

I too had the bubble problem (on collar) however it was quickly rectified by ModernTailor. I really do have to commend them on their customer service.

I've checked out moderntailor.com and indochino.com. Are these the places to get the best men's suits from a MTM source? These seem to be the best - are there other online places to check out if I want to buy a suit? It's getting to that time for me to get an interview suit.

What are the difference between the different bottom types for the shirts?

Round, straight, cut, and straight cut.

Which is the most common, and what are the pros/cons for each?

Best solution: Stop purchasing from people who do not give good value and service.

Why are you responding to your own posts?
