Glad to have you M8. It was a shame to see your thread go downhill so quickly (I slept through all the fun). Lots of interesting thoughts there, could have made for great discussion. The history of trolls on this board has some people on edge.

I think the M8's idea is interesting too. My tastes aren't as elevated as yours Tiger, so I didn't see it as going downhill, so much as people just attempting to define what he meant (or didn't mean).

Not sure what you mean about tastes, but the troll accusations started flying pretty early on. I also enjoyed the back and forth on defining a pretty glamorous-sounding lifestyle.

I was sorry to see the thread locked. although I was not sure about our new friends identity - I would like to have continued the discussion.

I think that I know a lot of people who fit in the discription of the lifestyle he was discussing, just without having defined it as such.

First of all, welcome M8.

I was also fascinated by that post and wanted to find out more. You did make some rather bold claims, and I thought it ended in something of a high-handed cop-out, but I understand how frustrating the level of troll paranoia on this board can be.

Tiger, I love your new avatar! Does she have a name?

Hah! Not *****cat, that's for sure

It's Ziyi Zhang, from a Memoirs of a Geisha movie poster. It's also the cover of the paperback edition of the book, which so startled me staring off the shelf with those bright blue eyes that I had to buy it. Fantastic book, looking forward to the movie.

This might be out of bounds, but would it be possible to re-open the thread if everyone promises to be on their best behavior? I'm confident that M8 is not Kalra nor a troll of any other name.

M8,

I will agree that your ideas are interesting. But I am not only leery of new members who make 37 posts in two days of membership, but also bold, seemingly self-satisfied proclamations (please forgive if I've misread; this is the internet after all, and the nuances of the spoken word don't always translate to to the written word).

The thread in question was closed before I had a chance to porvide any meaningful response,

In any event, welcome to the board. There's a lot to learn here and at AAAC about clothes, shoes and the like.

True enough, it's not *****cat.

Though I do spend quite a bit of time every day around beautiful Japanese women.

But it's the blue eyes that are so captivating.

I'm always disappointed when I see a Chinese lead actress playing the part of a Japanese. I was all set to really like Pillow Book, but the Chinese actress was unconvincing and killed it for me. Do you mean to tell me they can't find Japanese actresses to play these parts?

That's my rant.

I too would like M8's thread reopened. I think the matter is worth exploring in greater detail and with civility.

Easy answer to that. I am home and without a gig and finished my taxes a little ahead of time. I may have a hundred or more posts before I leave for Africa in a couple of more weeks, and then I'll probably disappear for a month or so unless I find a good internet connection while I am there, and have the discretinary time that I have at present.

You have chosen to infer that, however that was not implied. You will note the points I wrote are what I have observed in others. Yes, I do describe myself as one of them, however I have not been smug in my presentation.

Nevertheless, thank you for the clarification, and several have asked in the background for me to request that the thread be reopened. However, this may not be the proper audience for this type of discussion.

Thanks for the welcome Tom. Memoirs of a Geisha was excellent. A modern version of Gone with the Wind. We have a collection of Gong Li movies here at home. She is one of my favorite actresses, and has been for many years. M8

Ah, I hope you reconsider. Obviously there are more than a few of us who are interested and hope to live the life at some point in the future or do to some extent now. Discussing the philosophical underpinnings should lead to some good insights and maybe even a plan of action for some of the younger (eh, mid-20s) forum members.

I agree 100% with you! Is it really THAT difficult to find a Japanese actress?!?
Dances With Geisha is what that thing should have been called - I put it in the same league as Dances with Samur..err I mean Last Samurai

. I have not heard much praise for the film from people I know. And I am trying to dissuade my wife from seeing it as she loved the book, hate to see her dissappointed.
