I saw it at Best Buy. Impressive graphics.

Just listened to Revolver and Abbey Road today. Some bits sound just stunning now, and everything sounds at least a bit better.

took your advice and went with the white album. stunning job! Wow. "dear Prudence" is a real jaw dropper, but when i got to "while my guitar gently weeps" i was truly amazed.

I'm assuming the true stereo/processed stereo splices in the original stereo versions of "I Am The Walrus" and "Strawberry Fields Forever" have been corrected?

They really did one of the best remastering jobs here. Very meticulous work. Dare I say artisan quality?

The packaging on the mono box is incredible. The sound is even better.

As I recall, they sounded amazing. I taped them all on expensive metal cassettes and played them to death.

I doubt I will get the remastered, however, as I have all the albums on CD and don't want to buy them again and, in any case, I doubt I would care much about the difference today anyway.

When I was about 12 and way into the Beatles, my uncle gave me a box of really good Maxell cassette tapes for my birthday and let me come over and tape off all his original Beatles vinyl. I played the hell out of those tapes... wish I still had them. It was a long time before I realized how cool of a gift that was.

The were likely from MFSL, no? I used to collect those. They keep going up in value. You should see how much a sealed copy of their DSOTM goes for.

I'm going to suck it up and get the set tomorrow. I have loads of their music on tape (including the German recordings), and a few albums on vinyl, but I don't own any albums on CD or digitally, which is just criminal.

So excited for Abbey Road.

Here's a really good review of the remasters: http://blog.stereophile.com/musicroom/robertbaird/ "Using my Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista 3D CD player—which by the way is a great machine that I have always adored—at the exact same volume, the first thing you notice when you A-B new against old is that sonically the new transfers make the originals sound flat and one–dimensional. There is a newfound fullness, multi-dimensionality and also a sense of space that the originals lack. On first listen, this new sonic heft can easily be mistaken for loudness, for compression, but it’s really just a wider dynamic range and the presence of more music that you’re hearing. In the stereo CD of Rubber Soul, I A–B’d “Drive My Car” repeatedly against the 1987 originals and the audible differences for me came down to several things: increased separation and clarity between instruments, a more expressive, luxuriant emotional tenor, and an exquisite and exacting sense of bringing out and enhancing details like the roundness of the bass line or the edge on the vocals, which were always there but which are now so much more alive and present in the mix. After reading a half dozen articles/reviews I got swept up into the frenzy today at J&R. $12.99 for the singles, $15.99 for doubles - WTH, I thought, I'll do my AF impersonation tonight and see what all the fuss is about....

you and me both brother. i bought the mono boxset (which supposedly arrived today) and have since purchased the white album in stereo and will likely buy THAT box as well....

good news is, the ol lady is out this evening so i can sit in front of the stereo uninterrupted for like 5 hours and listen away.

First three songs on White sounded pretty darn good. The main thing (for me) was clarity - I really could hear eveything separated out. Ringo/drums much more prominent...
