what do you pay per load?

i live in an apartment without washer/dryer hookups, and its 1.50 to wash 1.50 to dry in our laundry area. do you think i stand a chance of getting a better deal taking wash to a service, or doing it at the laundromat?? or should i just suck it up and spend 12 bucks every time my wife and i need to do wash.

Don't you have laundry by the pound over there? A nice man, sometimes accompanied by a little girl of another ethnicity, who I think may be an illegal, comes to me, takes my dirty unmentionables, and returns clean ones a few hours later. The price is actually very low if you consider how much laundry costs per load and buying detergent.

i know places do laundry by the pound, but i just have never used the service before.

at boarding school the machines didn't cost
in college it was 50 cents a load
at my first apt it was 75...

now its 150 a load

i just feel like their must be a better way, if this per pound service is it tell me please what you pay per lb.

I think that 1.25 - 1.75 per load is average, with one of the biggest factors being the size and age of the machines. My building is only $1 but that's because a lot of the condo owners opt to install their own washers and dryers.

You'd have to ask yourself if the savings at a laundry mat, once you've factored in travel/gas costs, worth it. Especially when you consider that you probably have better things to do with your time than sit around a laundry mat for 2 hours on a weekend.

Our apts charge only a buck a load for a wash and a buck for dry. And a large wash basin for hand washes for free.

And they are very good high capacity washers and dryers our facilities are kept to very high standards.

We do laundry once a month (we have tons of clothes) and it is only 11-12 bux a month it costs us.

I'd opt for laundromat. You can load up 3 or 4 washers/dryers at one time and cut down on time you've got to sit around waiting for 1 washer and 1 dryer. Knock the whole thing out in 2 hours.

In my co-op building, high-efficiency washers are free, 35 minutes of drying time is $1.00, each additional 10 minutes of drying time is $0.25.

The cost-effectiveness of a landromat depends on how often you do a wash. I wash two, sometimes three, loads per week, and couldn't imagine spending part of every weekend at a landromat regardless of the cost savings.

I charge $1/wash and $1.25/dry. Perhaps I should raise the price by $0.25...
