I found out about an unclaimed asset site that the state of California has. I went to it and found I was owed $181.00. I filled out the form and sent it in. I got back today a friking IOU from the state. Thank you California!!!!

Go to this link set up by MSNBC. They list each one for each state. You want to be careful to use this link because some bogus sites are out there.

BTY, my wife got back over $200 and my son had a whopping $.03 owed to him!

Thanks. There are a couple with my name and middle initial but no address. Haven't heard of the company before though. Found some for my dad though. Thanks again.

Does that mean the check will come automatically someday? Or will you will still have to go through a similar procedure of reclaiming it? I found two relatives owed money, but telling them about it might be more hassle than it's worth.

LOL - you got a registered warrant

They're payable on Friday but you might have to come up to Sacto to cash it in right away.

Send it to me and I'll walk it over to the State Controller's Office on my lunch break for just a small fee - it's only a block from my office.
