Anyone Head Shavers out there? Ever used the Head Blade?

I shaved my head a few years ago for Charity - St. Baldrick's raises money for childhood cancer research by getting people to take pledges to shave their heads. I never went back. But I have never shaved it with a razor. I use a trimmer with no guard and go against the grain to get it as short as possible without using a razor. I shave it about once a week.

Despite the trimmer having a little vacuum to suck in the hair it's still really messy and bits of hair get everywhere. I pretty much have to do it and get in the shower. So I'm thinking of going full on razor shaved. I heard that can be a PITA with a regular razor. Someone mentioned the Head Blade. Anyone ever use this thing?

Link to a couple youtube videos of people using it.

Do it at least three times a week with a gillette (whatever the latest model is, forgot the name). Use a quality shaving soap/cream (nothing from the supermarket) and then splash on some quality aftershave. The women love my head and love touching it.

Maybe I will try it a couple times with my regular razor. If I get nicked up or it's a PITA then maybe I buy this head blade deal...

electric razor a couple times a week, takes a few minutes, and none of that silly soap/cream/gel stuff... I remember trying the headblade and other stuff and UGH... too much work, and I get much better results now, never cuts, never irritation..

I haven't used an electric in years. The two I tried both sucked big time. I didn't think about going that route though... Hmmm

I use a linear type panasonic and it works wonders. I do it absolutely dry, otherwise I feel it doesn't shave as well although it's a dry/wet razor.

But seriously, it makes it absolutely foolproof and easy. I do both face and head in about 5 minutes or so.

I've used the headblade when I first started shaving my head... the problem with it is that the blades clogged up easily and it was harder to shave around the ears. When I do shave my head I use a Gillette Fusion, haven't done it in a couple of months.

I shave my head and use disposable 2 or 3 bladed razors and get amazing results. Shower first with hot water to soften the stubble, then apply a good quality shaving cream and let it sit for a few minutes. The first few times only shave with the grain, once your head gets used to it you can do a second across the grain pass and then eventually an additional against the grain pass. Rinse your head with cold water when done and apply a good aftershave!

I don't shave my head bald, but #0000 blade on my Oster 76 is essentially that. I highly recommend the Oster, costs about $100 but has been the "best" clippers for the last 10+ years (barbershops, military, etc.) and will out last your car.

I tried it when it first came out, and found it cut me far more often than any other form of razor, and far deeper. Maybe the wheeled version is better, but the regular versions have a nasty habit of sliding horizontal.

Now I just do it with a double edge razor or, if I have time, with a straight. Haven't cut myself in years.

I shaved it on Friday with my Schick Quatro. Took maybe 10 minutes. I had to go over some of the same spots a lot and could feel some razor burn if I had cleaned off all the foam from that area so I had to reapply some foam a couple of times but that was about it. Very easy. No cuts. Just a little razor burn that I will be prepared for next time and I'm guessing as get more practice I will be more efficient with the blade....

Knowing where the hair changes directions will help a lot with the razor burn. Once you know those, you can likely get things cut down to two passes, plus buffing, when you've let it grow a little long. Upkeep can be one pass, plus buffing, with zero razor burn at all.

And everyone remember, apply that sun screen or wear a hat. Got my head toasted last weekend out fishing, and I still haven't stopped peeling.
