Optimal settings for blackberry

I've noticed my blackberry has been running pretty slow so I've been fooling around with the settings. I already tried some things with the browser settings but was wondering if I should remove some applications as well to speed things up. I was thinking of removing the facebook application since I rarely use it and it is way bigger in size than any other application. Has anyone else tried this? Thanks.

I am a samurai when it comes to keeping my blackberry clean and qucik. Yes, delete every app that you never use. google and download a program called maxmem. this will delete all the extra themes that they load onto the OS (not going to explain why), the foriegin languages you will never use, the Tmobile crap, etc. Also, set your email boxes to delete after 15 days under options -> security, there is a setting for memory cleaner. Run that, and it will clear a bunch of stuff out then from the home screen hold alt the type LGLG - this will take you into the system LOG - delete this. Finally- just backing out of a screen generally doesnt close a program on the BBOS. You have to physically hit close, so sometimes there are a lot of applications running in the background. Once you do all of what I suggested, remember to do a hard reset (either alt, right shift, del) or pull the battery once a week to clear everything. Good luck.

thanks, jgold....I did everything but will hold off on maxmem. From what I've read, it can mess things up.

I have used it several time on several different OS versions, with perfect results. But then again, I often times just edit/delete the files myself from the OS folder on my CPU before loading the OS on the blackberry. I guess having done it so many times, I just know what files are safe to delete.

Under options - status, I find that the file free under about 22-25 is where you start seeing slowdowns. Even with all the crap I have on here, I generally can keep it around 32 or so. All the stuff that I suggested should get you about 4-6 mb depending on how big your databases are.
