alright, so: pushups. i can do about 60 consecutive (my body weight is pretty low tho)

i have no equipment, so i've been looking to add resistance. lately i've been elevating myself by doing the pushups with my feet on a staircase, two stairs up. i do 4 sets of 20 with a minute between sets. any suggestions to improve?

Whats your goal?

If you haven't been training too long, a good, quick boost is to do your max, wait 10 seconds. then go til failure.

Otherwise I would just progress to one armed push-ups if your looking for resistance.

strap on a school boy bag, put in weights or water bottle filled with sand or water. from what I've learned, add weights until 15 reps a set is your absolute maximum, do that for 3/4 sets, I've gained good chest circumference from doing that. just my noobish $0.02.

You can greatly increase the difficulty of push-ups by reducing speed, improving form, and raising your hands off the floor with push-up stands.

start doing one handed pushups, knuckle, and finger pushups, after that you can try to do push up with less than all 5 fingers etc.

Find supermodel. Date supermodel. Put supermodel on shoulders while pushing up. Resitance added, ta da!

The pushups. Do the supermodel somewhere uncomfortable.

make it a compromise, do the supermodel on bed, missionary position, thrust with every pushup. done (the superman on toilet picture comes to mind)

Vary the location of the hands - elbows out, wide stance (!), at shoulder level, narrow stance, at waist level, etc...

I like them, the pushups.. I usually throw in about a 100+ on days when I work with some lighter weights..

doing pushups on a bed makes it harder? imo it makes it easier because you can't go down as much. you'd touch the bed too soon
