I've had no luck changing my language and there have been posts on dpreview.com saying US firmware will not work with JPN hardware. This has been true for other Panasonic cameras in the past.

I just bought one at Bic Camera, and they had little signs all over saying that you could not change language from Japanese. I guess they got tired of answering the same question a million times
