non-sanforized jeans and the shrinking process...

One thing that eludes me... with raw non-sanforized jeans, if you don't shrink them prior to breaking them in... when you DO wash them won't the honey combs etc move up thigh and end up not matching up with your knees?

But having said that... quality raw denim will still wear in fine and have that sheen to it after a soak induced shrinking?

Yes, the wear marks will move.

Not that big a deal, but if you're concerned about it, put your jeans in for a cold soak for a few hours, and then hang them to dry. That should get >90% of the shrinking out of the way.
If they've lost their stiffness, which I expect they will, just starch them and put them on when still a bit damp to set the creases. They'll turn out fine.

thanks for the reply... i thought one of the "undesirable" things with sanded jeans etc were honeycombs etc that didnt match up since it's not always possible for the jean model to have the same dimensions as 100% of the people buying jeans?

I wouldn't worry about any problems after soaking your jeans. Plenty of brands (45rpm for example) don't even bother to sell raw denim because they don't see any benefit in it.
