I was just curious if there was any one else on the forum who was in the industry. I am a designer and just wanted to know if ther were any others on the site.

Think about it: someone from the fashion industry comes around here. He/she won't last 5 minutes before flames start shooting out.

I work in the apparel business. i would not consider what i do to be the fashion business.
I need to be on top of trends to advise and assist my customers.

I was in the apparel business for 5 years in the 90's as an Operations Manager with Oxford Industries and Sr. Product Manager Polo/Ralph Lauren for Boys.

Thanks Carl for the clarification. My personal opinion is 75% of the so-called fashion designers today are fashion stylists ( putting unique looks together) or apparel designers ( copy other designers originality). I believe to be considered a "fashion designer" an individual needs to have a vision and a distinctive look along with introducing a new design or product. Innovation is what makes the fashion business better. Just simply calling up a manufacturer and making 100 thousand neckties or a thousand shirts and placing a label on them and calling themself a fashion designer is crazy.

The fashion business is the sales force promoting a brand and a lifestyle to sell a garment.
The apparel business is the sewing machines and the hands making a garment.

So Style Junkie! Are you a fashion designer , a fashion stylist, or an apparel designer?

My thanks. I felt inspired to repurpose old threads. In these harsh economic times, not to mention our new environmental consciousness, there's nothing wrong with using old threads.
