Comic Books

There wasn't an official comic book thread so I figured I might as well create this one.
Sooooo what do you guys all read? I myself am a fan of Marvel comics but every once in a while I'll pickup a Batman comic, especially with renewed interest due to the death of Batman and Dick taking over the cowl. But right now this guy, although he seems to be everywhere now, is my favorite:

What Ryan Reynolds did to the character cannot be undone.

TBH, it wasn't his fault. If you've read any interview concerning Deadpool and the creation of a spin-off, he wants to keep Deadpool as close to the comics as he possibly can. Honestly, I thought he acted the part pretty well but the scriptwriter fucked up beyond all means by having Deadpool be an abomination of a bunch of different mutants.

my favorite marvel comics will be "deadpool & ducktales" and "talespin featuring the x-jet" oh and the upcoming one-shot "mowgli and baloo in the savage land"

I stand corrected. I mean, sure. Ryan Reynolds looks great for the part. Physically, he's perfection. It's his delivery that really irks me though. He's annoying-funny. Come to think of it, so is Deadpool. I suppose it's decent casting after all.

^^
if the deadpool movie has yellow subtitles i'm in.

I'm a big Marvel fan... Mostly the X-titles (X-Men Legacy, Uncanny X-Men, Astonishing X-Men, Wolverine), but some others (Amazing Spider-man, New Avengers, Dark Avengers, Deadpool). I had to cut back but previously I was also reading Green Lantern (Sinestro Corps War), Batman (RIP), the new Conan series, Iron Fist, some of the Hellboy limited series.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Marvel buyout?

I'm over the age of 14, so I don't read comic books. lulz.

Clearly, more money for Disney. As long as they don't mess around with current franchises and focus more on constructing theme parks, it'll be alright.

Same here, albeit not by much.

That's my hope. Perhaps this could even mean better animated movies are in the works.

Currently, DC can't be matched when it comes to straight-to-video animated movies -- Wonder Woman was particularly spell-binding. My friend showed me the trailer for Planet Hulk the other day though and it sure does look promising.

used to be a huge collector

first comic I ever bought was X-Men #122 back when it was 25¢ cover price. Had the complete run of Claremont/Byrne Xmen, then the ones with Paul Smith drawing them, then Jim Lee and stopped buying Xmen after Lee's stint.

the other large runs I had were all the Frank Miller "Daredevil", all the Byrne drawn Hulk and Fantastic Four, the entire Eternals series, stuff like Wolverine mini-series, all the Byrne drawn Captain America...pretty much anything John Byrne drew for Marvel I had.

Only owned 1 DC comic, that was the Xmen - New Teen Titans crossover where they fought Darkseid.

Stopped completely when the whole Liefeld era got into full swing with Image Comics, then sold off nearly everything by mid 90s.

Only books I kept and still have are all my Sandman (Vertigo) comics (entire run) and Sanctuary (Fumimura/Ikegami) and Crying Freeman (Koike/Ikegami) runs
