Help with my chicken recipe

I'm a college student and pretty new to cooking. I recently made a tortilla soup and have some leftover stuff that I want to use so it doesn't all go to waste.

So this is what I came up with:

1. Sautee 2 cloves minced garlic, half a chopped onion, and 1 minced chipotle pepper en adobo sauce in some oil and butter

2. Put in the chicken and sear it for a few minutes on each side

3. Take the pan off the heat and throw in some kernal corn.

4. Bake 350 degrees for 30ish minutes. Covered for the first 15ish min.

Like I said, I'm pretty new to this and this is something I just came up with now. How do you guys think it'll turn out and how can I improve on it? I really don't want it to come out really dry..

Unfortunately noo bacon..only have what I've listed.

Come on now, I know some of you guys are experienced cooks or in cooking school or something like that...what do you guys think? Is this going to be a disaster?

My only concern is that you might burn the minced garlic - it cooks faster than onion and especially chicken. You could add it a little later, or for a subtler garlic taste you could add it in big pieces, infuse the oil as it cooks, and then remove the garlic before eating.

I'm actually eating the dish right now and it turned out really well! (at least in my humble opinion) I actually ended up modifying it quite a bit but yeah, you're right Andrew. The garlic is overdone and I'll take your advice next time.
