I got diagnosed with Snapping Scapula Syndrome yesterday. It seems that I've got some winging in my scapula and it's causing this popping sound when I move my arm. I've been to PT and they basically prescribed band work and ice, which I've already been doing and isn't helping that much. Any suggestions for specific exercises or routines that might help?

Stabilizing the scapula

I had a 'winged scapula' or whatever a few years back and it was pretty lame. According to my Ortho it was the result of a severed nerve, which held down the scapula.
The result of the winging for me was bad. I was big into tennis and the scapula held the power to anything above the shoulder, so I lost all power and flexibility raising the shoulder. I didn't have any muscle inflammation or anything so there was nothing I could do. About two years down the road test showed the nerve had regenerated.
My non-professional recommendation for you is to rest it. It's probably just soft tissue inflammation.

Winged scapula is a bit different from what Rambo is talking about. You had textbook long thoracic n. damage, which innervates the serratus anterior m. and stabilizes the scapula. "Snapping Syndrome" is usually a result of bursitis or a muscle imbalance like why mentioned. If I remember correctly, all you do is PT + NSAID to strengthen the scapular stabilizers. If that fails, corticosteroids or surgery depending on the cause of the snapping.

You might want to consult a physical therapist who specializes in shoulder rehab. You need exercises that will strengthen your all of the posture muscles in your back as well the rotator cuff muscles. One of the basics of shoulder conditioning is the Blackburn exercises, which you can easily do at home without any special equipment.
