Old meat in the fridge - Page 2

this past weekend I was at my butcher in I asked him to give me the most aged piece of meat he had. He brought out a slab of sirloin, it was black and green, had mold on it. He cut me a large steak, cleaned it up, it looked beautiful. The meat was dark red and so concentrated. My wife saw the slab when it came out all moldy and she asked if they were throwing it away.

Can someone explain why my Atlantic salmon tonight tasted a bit rancid? I bought it at Safeway, so not a super-shitty store, last Tuesday. I froze it immediately, began thawing it in the fridge still in the package on Friday night, and ate it tonight. I only put dill and lime juice on it, and some pepper. I couldn't finish it. It was really bad.

There is no guarantee that the store's fish suppliers actually supplied a fresh fish.

Are you sure the salmon wasn't old because you paid for it up front but then was told it was not in stock and that it would be there the next day, but then you had to wait two weeks before getting the fish?
