Those are very cool, but I could have done without the vertical stripe tie in picture 3. It is a nice leather sofa they are sitting on, I would take one of those. Also notice several of them have pocket squares in their overcoats.

They're handsome, aren't they?

Is yours the first forvm reference to them?

What vertical stripe?

Do you mean the line of his vest?

Note that he wears that tie motif in several different photographs. Guess what that means.

Don't know. I may have mentioned them in a report I am sure I gave when I wrote about a visit to Moore a year or two ago. I also discussed them more recently with the folks from Foster to see if they had roots in England. I suspect they must, but perhaps the lines separated so long ago that the memory of them was lost in the old country. Keep in mind that this is also a feature of the J&M Handgrades and other American shoe models from bygone years. In fact, I have a pair from Moore that was specially made for them by Alden and it features a spade sole - not as strong a line as in Harriman's or their bespoke models, but unmistakable nonetheless. Perhaps Tutee knows more.

One of NY's finest. I'm surprised Daniel Patrick Moynihan is absent from these photos; he was Harriman's personal aide for a number of years.

No, on the very far right of the picture (third one down) the guy is wearing a vertical stripe tie. You may have to scroll right to see it.

The older man on far left in pic 3 has just enough of a right hand to hold a cigarillo. Excellent work, surgeon!

They look like the J&M handmade shoes to me.

Not to toot my own horn too much or anything, but I had a pretty decent Oliver Moore find a while back:

http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=42288

I would be surprised if they were still up to something like this today. But I am willing to be surprised and would of course, as always, defer to dopey.

Harriman was the real deal. His bio, Spanning the Century, is a great read.
