Help with a weird problem - suddenly unable to do my normal exercise routine

I wonder if anyone here can help out with advice on an odd problem I'm experiencing:

I'm not a fitness freak by any means, but do try to keep in shape. In addition to my general hyperactive running around the city, I usually do karate one or two evenings a week, go swimming once a week and do floor exercises at home once or twice a week too. The floor exercises are pretty unambitious and are pure maintenance level: Normally 2 sets of 30 push-ups, 2 sets of 65 stomach crunches (inc. a hold at the end) and 1 set of 65 leg-ups.

Suddenly, since about a week and a half ago, I can't do my push-ups properly any more. When starting, I immediately feel weaker than normal and by the time I get to around 27-28, my arms are actually giving in. This is very weird since this is normally well within my capability. The other floor exercises (and swimming) feel a bit more difficult too, but I can get through them. For the rest, I feel completely normal - my general energy level seems normal (hyper), I'm eating and sleeping as badly as normal (but no worse), I feel fine... The only thing I can think of is that I've been on holiday and so my exercising and actitivity/feeding patterns were a bit less regular until I got back a couple of weeks ago.

I'm confused - anyone had similar experience or know what this might be?

Thanks.

Maybe it's your diet? Make sure you're getting enough potassium.

See a doctor maybe? Maybe you have a health problem.

Thanks for the responses. I feel totally fine and still have loads of energy (so I don't think it's reason to see a doctor) and my diet is unchanged... What would lack of potassium do? Does that cause this kind of thing?

You lost 2 reps on your push-ups...?

It's been a week and a half.

I don't see the problem. Either I'm missing something or you're new to this.

Your excercise pattern was less regular due to being on holiday, and you lost 2 reps per set.
That's what happens if you take a break from the routine.

Thanks for the further responses... I know the difference seems small, it was more just that the subjective difficulty/capability suddenly changed alot, which hasn't happened before after holidays/breaks. I'll see how it goes in the coming period.

The only time this ever happened to me was once when I was overtraining, and the second time was about a month before the first symptoms of mono appeared.
If you've only lost two or three reps then it probably isn't anything to serious, more the fact you didn't train for two weeks and your body got used to not training and your muscles began to shrink and weaken. Now if you'd lost 15/20 reps then maybe you should be worried.
