Saarinen conference chair

I've decided that I would like to buy this chair:

http://www.knoll.com/products/product.jsp?prod_id=560

But I'm reluctant to shell out the full Knoll price. I just don't like to pay for branding. Who makes a good repro, true to the original design? Thanks.

I'm not aware of any knock-offs of that design, but you should be able to find a pretty cheap vintage Knoll example for not too much money. Just hunt around and keep checking ebay.

When CBS decided to rent space in Black Rock to others, they evacuated and gutted a lot of the floors they had occupied since the building was put up. A lot of Saarinen stuff, including those chairs, could be found in dumpsters outside the building.

I really can't help, but that is a great chair. I've always liked those.

Do you need the wheeled leg version? I believe there are a few repros of the tube leg version.

white on white's version for $250

I'll bet you could buy this one for $250, take off the legs, and then affix it to the base of another office chair so that you get the roller/height adjust/swivel version that way. A frankenchair, if you will.
