How much butter do you use in your cooking?

Been using extra virgin olive oil along with butter in a lot of my cooking recently. But only in the meat and seafood dishes though. Should I cut back on the butter for health purposes in the long run?

I'm no doctor, but I would say that it depends on your overall calorie/cholesterol intake. Butter is pure fat and tons of calories. It is so good though.

Depends on how much you eat. If you eat three square meals a day, no butter for you. If you eat one pool of oatmeal daily at noon, add a quarter stick.

And I'd use organic from a reputable source. Dairy fat absorbs and stores everything exposed to the animal.

I add food to my butter.

They have olive oil in solid sticks here, win-win? I use lots of butter. Salted, lurpak, unsalted, I love that shit.

I really don't use that much butter. I use EVOO more often than not, and butter is reserved for pan searing steaks, cooking fish, or toast.

I use butter often, EVOO isn't always an equivalent substitute IMO. Cheese sandwiches really stand out to me as a time to use butter, same with eggs.

Otherwise I use vegetable/canola oil for most cooking.

The only time I think I really use EVOO to cook is when I put veggie in a foil pouch, I usually just finish with it.

^ I agree, there are certain flavor profiles that welcome olive oil, and olive oil probably is healthier than other fats, but it is not a go-to oil nor is it really that versatile IMO. I keep it on hand of course, but it has certain roles to play. Unless it's really good quality, I don't even like eating it raw on salads, for that I'd just rather spruce up some plain soy oil with other stuff to make a vinaigrette.

I have never used butter to cook something in my life.

I use that nasty butter flavored pam. My fat friend once sprayed his toast with it.

I like to fry eggs in butter then use the leftover grease to cook the bacon in.

Deliciously unhealthy.

I use butter when I am frying up a piece of steak. Otherwise canola oil for cooking most of my food.

I haven't purchased/used butter in over a year.
