So I've been doing a lot of searching around on here and around other sites and stores and I can't seem to find anything that meets my criteria (or any places to purchase from).

I see the Allen Edmonds Park Avenues are pretty popular and are a great recommendation for this price range (if found used/seconds), but I can't find them in that condition in my size anywhere.

I've checked out Loake and other shoes at Pediwear that I see that are nice, but without being able to try them on (and them being from the UK), I don't want to have to order them and send them all the way back if they don't fit.

Any recommendations? I'm looking for a simple oxford (in black or brown... preferably black first - cap toe or not, doesn't matter). I'm a size US 8 typically in dress shoes and D width. I will be wearing them once or twice a week for school. I would like to get some as soon as possible since I am already in need of them. Help is greatly appreciated, TIA

Oxfords for school? Seems like major overkill. Assuming you're in college, derbys or even loafers will be more dressed up than 99% of the students.

Anyways, I'd recommend looking at shoes.com or amazon. Amazon has good deals on lots of AE's, although they're probably 2nds, and shoes.com has 20% cash back through either b of a or bing.com.

Well, I am in pharmacy school and I'm required to wear slacks, shirt, tie, lab coat, and shoes for lab every week. Also, we are doing rotations and so I have to dress professionally for those as well.

Thanks for those suggestions, I shall look around to see what I can find.

B/S forum for AE or Alden shoes. That's exactly what I did and paid $65 for $300 shoes.

Amazon generally doesn't offer seconds - for those you would need to contact one of the AE outlets. Sierra Trading Post also generally has a decent selection of discontinued models.

Nordstrom rack often has cheap AE at some monthly events. (Look for the big brands event). I picked up a pair of AE PA for $80.

I don't have a Nordstrom (or Nordstrom Rack) where I live (Iowa)

How's sizing run on those shoes? Would it be worth just trying to call around and see if anyone has anything in stock to ship to me?

E's have run true to size amongst the one's I've tried. Also, you could look at aldenshop.com and look at their sales section. They're usually around 200-300 for sale, but generally regarded to be better then AEs.

My experience is that the AEs on Amazon are definitely not seconds. The ones on STP sometimes seem to be seconds, even though they are not described as such.

Good to know they're not 2nds, which makes some of the deals even better.

There were pebbled black and brown ones with Danite soles made in England for $200 at the BB warehouse sale. B. Nelson would charge $155 for the resole alone.

I bought a pair of florsheims for dirt cheap one time, like $50. They're pretty nice and I get complimented on them quite a bit, they are leather soled and actually fairly sleek. The model isn't on the site but this is the closest approximation, mine are nicer than this model, but florsheim is cheap and pretty good. http://www.florsheim.com/shop-fl/sho...prod18194.html tbqh I dunno if the ones I've seen are just the ugly ones, but after looking at AE in a few stores I saw nothing I would buy for even $100. They were all so clunky, I might not have seen the whole collection, but I dunno why they get so much HYPE.

jcrew's are decent, I got a pair on sale for under $100 and they've served me well.
