Psychologists: what's the diff in self loathing and depression?

Too many "LAWYERS:________" threads.

So, what's the difference in self hatred/self loathing, or hating some group you belong to (race, physical characteristic, etc) and depression in general? Do they go hand-in-hand or what?

Is self loathing the same as an inferiority complex, similar, totally different?

You can hate yourself but not be depressed about it.

This is true, but it's quite difficult. And it's nearly impossible to over a long period of time. (In my experience.)
