It opens to the public tomorrow. Who's going?

Here're some of the cars that will be featured in the show:

LS600hL, an 750i look-alike, will be the most expensive Lexus ever at $125,000 fully loaded:











Jaguar XK:


MB S-Class, already abundant on streets of Manhattan:


VW EOS:


Audi TT:






Bentley Continental GTC:

I’m not too keen on the new fascia of the LS. Lexus is very smart in their movements up market, they intelligently didn’t rush to make a $100,000 car. The S-Class is OK, massive, but still only OK, hardly worth a second glance. I don’t like the fact that for $100K you get a computer screen instead of real gauges and dials. Seriously, if I wanted a Sony computer screen, I would have bought one. I’m a big fan of the new direction of design direction at Bentley (although they should always produce one model with an upright grill, at least for the principal of the matter), but not the more and more down-market price, the cars should cost more than they do. I feel a les than $200K Bentley cheapens the brand. The GTC should have been a convertible hardtop; it’s a Bentley after all! If Peugeot can do it, so can Bentley! Jon.

I might be going on Saturday with some friends. Also just saw yesterday the Saturn Sky Redline and the new Infiniti G35 sedan pictures from the show. Two cars I've been waiting to see. As for the ones shown, I think the Jaguar XK is great looking, while the S-Class is horrendous. The wheel wells look like a cheap wide-body kit one would buy for a civic.

Not to defend MB, but they were going for a muscular look, away from BMW's 7-Series and other than pronounced wheel arches, there's not much else that can show that kind of muscular definition in a massive 4-door car. Remember, it's a German car, it doesn't have to be beautiful like a Ferrari; it has to be Teutonic like well, a Mercedes.

I liked the wheel arches in the BMW M3 E46, they were muscular without being bulbous and clunky looking, however I think would still be too sporty looking on a large sedan. When I think of a S class sedan I think luxury first, you don't see many 20 something year olds hot rodding around in their S class. They usually go for something smaller like an E55, CLS, etc.

I don’t know…MB has added it’s 6.5liter Twin-turbo V12 to the S-Class lineup…if so then it sure looks like to me they are trying to make the car more muscular. But, yes the S-Class should scream luxury before performance. Jon.

Wow I wonder the gas mileage on a V12 Twin Turbo!! No doubt more muscular engine wise, I just personally don't understand the need to show it with strange fenderflares. I would have rather seen a different body kit or different body panels that are a bit more subtle.

Sorry, it was a 6.0 Liter, not a 6.5 liter (half a liter more, half a liter less…): http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/mercedes_s65amg.asp Anyways, it gets the fantastic gas mileage of: 13/20 mpg! It does look good in this guise though, with the sport trim: Yes, they could have made it more subtle…guess you’re going to have to wait for the facelift in 3 years. Jon.

Love the Z4 coupe, its visually perfect in everyway. I also love the bigger and more pointed grill on the face lifted E-Class. The redesigned bottom front bumper however, at the corners looks, well not good, IMHO.

That's what it wants you to think:

And then before you know it, it drops down to gears and rockets away, cutting you off and leaving an ever-smaller dot for you to look at as it speeds away. Like a Rottweiler that looks cute but has inch-long fangs...

I think the Jag XK is being seriously underappreciated. This is a big move for Jaguar.. giving us a worthwhile car for that market. I thought they pretty much gave up that battle to Aston years ago... but this is some nice competition. Without actually looking it up and knowing, this is probably the first car of its type Jag put out since being gobbled up by Ford?

Ford acquired Jaguar back in the late 80's (88 or 89 I think). The recent line of XKs came out in 1997.

Most modern cars don't strike me but the latest Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Range Rovers (BMW) are very well-done. It's too bad they haven't done more for Ford's bottom line.
