WTF is with coconuts, seriously.

I love the taste, especially with added rum and ice on a hot day.

But folks how the heck do you open those suckers if you don't keep machete around the house.

Is there an easy way of dealing with coconuts? They are extremely cheap (90cents a piece), but not that easy to chew.

When I lived in FL I just hammered them. Worked good.

I have a small kitchen hatchet that I used to use. But that was way too fussy. These days I just hit it with a sledgehammer. Sometimes the meat pops right out of the shell. Bonus! ~ H

I used to work in a produce dept. Here goes, the ones from a gorcery store have a circumference that has been "pre-cut" right in the middle somewhere.

All you do, is "fast 2 tap" with a hammer around that circumference.

Good luck.

get a machete or bolo. growing up, a staple piece of furniture in our home was a coconut stool. it has a blade jutting off the side so that you can scrape out the coconut meat.
