Just seeing if there are any other surfers on these boards. We've been getting some great waves here on the east coast with these Hurricanes comming through. Also, in my opinion its probaby one of the hardest sports and best workouts you can get.

I can balance but I have a hard time paddling fast enough to catch a wave...and I get tired easily. Only done it twice though. Amazing upper body workout.

Yes. I live inland but get out once or twice a year for a few days. I have ridden in British Columbia, Oregon and California. I am going river surfing this weekend for the first time. If I get any good photos I will post.

Have done it a few times, it was really fun but took a while to figure out. If I lived near the ocean I'd probably go every day.

takes chunks of time and devotion__ got ADD. i did like river surfing. no need to paddle out and great timing is not necessary, just a good sense of balance.

Not big into surfing. Big into bodysurfing.

I go to college in Erie, PA, but when I'm at home in San Diego I surf all the time. I'm not very good mind you, but I take every chance I get to paddle out and catch a few waves. Sometimes just paddling out and sitting in the water for a while is just so relaxing.

Since we're on the topic, has anyone seen North Shore? So entertaining.

"Hey howlie to you"

Haole.

There are no waves in the Atlantic! Sure, wait for the few storms in the year.

Actually, there are great waves from about the mid-point of Uruguay, far north of Puunta del Este, up along Brazil, and actually some great spots near Rio (not only the right side of Ipanema). I guess the Western Cape/Sunset Beach Reef would also count, although that is caused more from the wind and flows they get from Antarctica.

This was Newport RI last week when Hurricane Bill came through. A spot called Ruggles right behind one of the Mansions.

I do. Out of Cape May County, NJ. This past weekend was absolutely wild. 12' rolling bombs just coming in. Only a few spots were able to hold the size though....no point breaks or anything around here
