This is why the Lions will never get out of the lower divisions...

I had hoped the days of this had passed. I think of more concern than Millwall is the fact that much of the trouble was caused by Hammers fans.

What I don't understand is why the West Ham players kept running over to the fans and celebrating their goals? I would think as a player you'd have some concern and try not to incite the fans.

Took my son to a Spurs 'friendly' at Milwall a couple of years ago (I know, WTF was I thinking, duh!). They were nutz. The place is a shithole and all they cared about was taunting about 3000 Spurs supporters. We left a little early because the fans around us were nervous. The steward told us to go a different way because 'Millwall thugs were outside'. It was at this game that Millwall 'fans' threw bricks at women and kids and pulled a cop of his horse. It's on YouTube somewhere.

A friendly! Six years on, my son still talks about that adventure. The walk to the tube station through the back alleys and train tracks around Millwall was pretty nervy for me.

Sill have (had?) one of the best ground names: The Den, on Cold Blow Lane

* I think it's called the New Den now. Don't know if it's a new or renovated stadium...

I remember that. When City were in the old 2nd Division (1999) they went to Millwall for a league match that had to be abandoned because some thugs invaded the pitch and tried to get at City players...
