As a skateboarder I know alot about sneakers soooo...let's go through some of my favorites. Vans Old Skool About $45-$50, but I've gotten from for $18, and $38 I've had 3 pairs of these, great shoes, hold up very well for mainly being canvas. Adidas Gazelle will run you about $50-$60 I haven't had the original Gazelle, but the Skateboarding version, the main difference is that this is slimmer, classic soccer silhouette. Nike SB Bruin $55-$65 Just got these and I love them, basically vulcanized Gazelles with a Nike Logo on them, very comfortable and most likely durable as they're skateboarding shoes. ( I haven't had them long enough to tell) Vans 106 $45-$55 A great casual sneaker, very thin and light. Work very well with shorts or rolled up jeans and no socks. I like them more than Authentics.

i dont know if you would consider them sneakers (more like plimsoles) but Keds are a damn good choice. simple, go with everything, especially when you wake up late and need to throw on something versatile. and, theyre built better than most cheap plimsoles. Ive had a pair of navy ones for almost a year I think (granted I have been resorting to shoe glue for a while now)

I have to say, it's hard to go back to Nikes after owning a pair of real leather sneakers (for me - common projects achillies in white). I wouldn't pay retail for common projects as there are much better shoes at the $400-$500 price range (I'm not talking about sneakers at this point) but for $200-$250 it's not a bad deal. The problem with cheap shoes is that they are cheap and you will get several pairs that all look the same so you'll end up spending $200+ on the same shit anyways. Just look around and try to get a deal on what you really want.

I have a pair of white canvas Keds champions and have been wearing them for like a week and a half straight, gotta just slightly dirty it a little because they look weird pure white. Looks great with jeans or shorts. Word to the wise though, try to break em in as much as possible because they run pretty narrow.

I feel ya. They can be a little stiff when they're new, but when they break in they're a great slim canvas shoe. Way better than vans.

I like the Vans Lo Pro Era. I'm probably going to grab these white ones for summer. And while not quite as low profile, I recently picked up these Era 59s and I really love the colorway.

i've had the vans low pro eras for the whole summer... they've held up well... another low profile shoe is the aptly named low profile jack purcells. they have an insole that you can take out to make them low profile inside as well... its like walking in slippers. [IMG]

Bumping this for more suggestions on something clean and minimal, would like a nice bone / cream or white pair for summer.
