best/worst corporate logos - Page 31

^ I cannot understand companies who find it "hip" and "cool" to abbreviate their own name.

"WaMu" is the worst offender.

Scroll down a bit and you will see the history of the MGM logo.

My favorite is 1928-1956. Jackie is the most dignified of them all.

Worst in my opinion.. Maybe I just don't like cars.

I like Alfa Romeo's. I don't see anything wrong with Forbes and Playstation 3.

It's too generic. It looks like the Spiderman 3 font. You also have to size it up with it's predecessors, which were excellent.

Cummins Onan is uh... ironic joke or purposeful biblical allusion?

It looks like you mislabeled your categories, because your "Best" logos are mostly a potpourri of ugly polychromatic names on white backgrounds while your "Worst" logos are clean, exudes luxury and aesthetically pleasing. In general, anyway.

Though I'm going to totally contradict myself and say I like the palm logo:

It's a happy orange!

Understated yet it expresses everything the Olympics hope to be.

Great beer too.

As much as I hate them, both their logos are great.

palm logo is quite nice, aesthetically pleasing doesn't mean its a good logo though, common misconception, I don't think there are any rules but it should represent the company well, be memorable, stand out and be simple. I didn't like the PS3 logo because as mentioned it uses the spiderman 3 font and doesn't have any unique identifier other than the text (which yeah, isn't unique). The Hyundai and Daewoo logos are both very forgettable and generic, just like the Forbes logo (I know, its corporate and clean cut, but I think it is just too common and ordinary). Alfa Romeo and Nissan logos are too busy and complicated (mainly the former), nissan logo just reminds me of pepsi. At the risk of sounding cliche, I think the google logo is my favourite as it is just perfect for the company, simple, effective, inviting, playful, unique and clean, I love that it lacks the forced corporateness/web 2.0 style of many many logos.

The palm logo is fine. Also, Google screams "Web 2.0" to me. The Web 2.0 look is everything you named.. bright, playful, bold, and simple. Often comes with a bevel or bubble effect.
