so, I am sitting in a coffee shop , working (I work from home a few days a week) and this group of 3 old women is sitting next to me, talking.
one of them starts talking about her "irishness" - she's about 60. her family left irland during the famine. she is talking about "her" people and how the english fucked them over. and, frankly, she is full of shit in the historical facts of what she is talking about. and she is talking loudly. I really feel like saying "no, that is a bunch of shit old lady" but I am a little too polite for that. she has maps and pictures that she carries around to show how she has been fucked over. where her family used to farm before the english came.
not to diminish the suffering of the irish people, I am talking accuracy of statements, and the whole issue of her being "irish". she says herself, loudly, that her father didn't consider himself "irish" she has found her roots.
fucking stupid people.
