Plus the bassist's name is Dick Diamonde. Which is pretty damn awesome.

TS, Good to see a classic Australian band get a mention on SF. I'm glad that you included "Friday on my mind" as one of your selections. It was voted the "Greatest Australian song of all time" in a radio station poll in 2001. I wouldn't go that far, but I do enjoy hearing it on the radio every now and then.

I think I'd only heard the Bowie cover, not knowing it was a cover.

I kinda grew-up hearing the Easybeats on the radio - thinking they were kinda cool like The Kinks and early Stones. I was blown-away later to learn that they were Australian. Great stuff!

The Easybeats' rhythm guitarist George Young later recorded under the name Flash and the Pan and is the older brother of AC/DC's Angus and Malcom Young.

Sorry - Romafan beat me to that bit of trivia.
