The Ian Knot is quite handy though, as is the correct way to avoid slip knots,

looks too complicated to me ahah I see a lot of colourful shoelaces on that site, are they suitable for dress shoes? I really want a nice purple ( paul smith stock ones) or blue / white.

Considering the obsession and importance of nice shoes, I don't see a problem with detailing the different types of lacing in such a way. I treat it in similar vein to how you fold your pocket square, what type of knot you make with your tie. I will admit though, that after going to each specific lacing type and realising that he has outlined the features, length, comparitive length and medium resolution vector drawings of each lacing type as well as reference pictures and a rating system, it does seem a bit excessive and that this person might have a mild case of OCD.
