I heard the sample sale was pretty nuts, with a long queue early each morning.

FP did make a gingham shirt with the detachable collar a couple seasons ago in a light blue. Not the same as yours but similar in theory

I want to know if they are indeed making a "premium" line with the shirts, as the one I just got at the Paris FP store is quite different than their usual buttondowns

I like the fit. Have you had it altered in any way (the shirt that is linked).

no, that is how it is cut

wearing a size 16 shirt, which would equate to a size M BoO, 38 Fred Perry, etc

There is a regular cyan white short sleeve gingham by FP. Not sure if it is still available.

I arrived around noon at the sample sale and it was not too crowded. They restocked all the time. Naturally they had a lot of not so attractive stuff but also a few really interesting pieces. I saw a guy guarding the two Comme des Garçons jumpers he found and he was hanging around all day waiting for more. I only spent half an hour and am happy with what I got.

Get Smart, you are not talking about the difference between Laurel Line and Main Line shirts!?

no, this shirt is the first I've seen like it.

another difference is the shape of the back of the collar, which doesnt go straight around, but forms a slight V notch shape just under where the 3rd collar button is. As mentioned the use of MoP buttons on a buttondown is a first I've seen from FP. And the sleeves are quite trim, moreso than the normal Laurel LTD shirts.

interesting....are you sure it's actually MoP and not just pearly looking? I have a bunch of s/s gingham shirts and they're all plastic buttons, but they do look pearlescent

anyways, doesnt really matter...I just found it interesting this long sleeve had details I had never seen before on one of their shirts and it'd be great if FP made more like it since I've always ruminated to myself about how they should make a more luxe version of their Laurel line buttondowns, and this one seems to fit the bill.

I'll tell you when it is on my doorstep! But the info of the same shirt on the oki-ni website says it has MoP buttons.

Its still one of my favorite items. I'm like 20% torso and 80% legs, 5'7 with a 33" inseam; so the oversize pockets were the size of my chest haha.
