I thought for a moment you got the brown and the oxblood, then I read the caption. That flash makes a hell of a difference! Do they look redish normally?

Yeah, it looks red/maroon in color.
I'll take better pics tomorrow in the sun to show the red much better.
I do have the brown ones coming (hopefully next week) so I'll take some pics of the two next to each other to see the difference.

I just received the Julius "Gas Mask" bag from Japan that I had asked everyone what they thought of it a few weeks back. It looks just like the pictures and the leather quality is great-- very soft and buttery. Nothing against the Filson bags, but I am very glad I got this instead. I was trying to figure out what to use the little snapped pouches for on each side. I found I could put my laptop's power supply inside one of the pouches, and my keys and credit cards in the other. They also work well for holding a pair of sunglasses.

The Julius bag is 38 x 38 x 7 cm. It is similar in size to a briefcase such as the Filson 256, except the Julius bag is a little taller, and not quite as thick. So I guess it is kind of half way between a briefcase and a messenger bag. Yeah, I have no regrets. The pieces that "broke the bank" such as the Julius bag and my Mr. Olive leather jacket are things I can see myself using for the next 10 years. I cannot say that about many other items of clothing I've bought.

My bag probably isn't what you are looking for, if you want a messenger/duffle. I got a Bottega bag that is basically a soft briefcase with the intrecciato weave. It is exactly what I wanted.

This is the messenger bag that tempts me:

I like my Bottega so much that I have considered getting that messenger too. I would be set for bags for 10 years.
