You can get telephone converters for those old prong plugs. Indeed, it works. The life-span of those old phones--like old pens, cars, etc.--are much longer than whatever phone you can buy these days. I attribute it to the build quality and lack of distracting, shoddy electronics and simple electric circuit design.
I think it directly goes to an operator when you reach a touch-tone menu--another benefit!
