What’s on your realistic wishlist?

Thread Starter
I’ve been thinking recently that there are a couple of pieces of clothing I could honestly say I really need and a couple that outside of need, I know I will eventually get and then there are the ones that I may lust over, but I know deep down will probably never grace my wardrobe.

For my Need; I have just under 20 suits but not one of them is a plain grey SB suit. I have stripes, I have checks, and I have one DB micro herringbone that is almost solid, but I don’t have a solid grey SB suit. I don’t know why, but it’s obviously a staple and something I need.

For my Want; there are two that really spring to mind. One has to be a 4x2 shawl collared smoking jacket. Preferably in bottle green velvet (though I would consider scarlet or navy velvet). I actually think I would get fairly good use out of it (I have a pair of Sutherland tartan trews from Dege, I am dying to wear with a smoking jacket!) and I’ve wanted one for so long, I know I will eventually get one. The other is a 3 piece light-ish grey flannel suit (Smith 2546). 3-roll-2 with a db waistcoat. Something very Bertie Wooster-ish.

For the lust I think it would have to be a big thick (4-ply or higher) cashmere shawl collared fisherman’s cardigan. Something impossibly thick and soft to wear around the house in the winter, hopefully navy or a dark charcoal with leather or suede trim. I just don’t think I could ever pull the trigger on something like that regardless of how much I might like to.

So what is your Need/Want/Lust list?

Need: Alden Chukkas

Want: Incotex Pants (might be a need...who knows?)

Lust: Vox's shoe closet

Need: new pants wardrobe. New spring/fall jacket (I've got my eye on an Aero). New suit.

Want: Second set of sunglasses. At least 2-3 more pair of shoes. Unstructured linen sportcoat. Nice umbrella that can take a few gusts of wind. Couple good cashmere pullovers.

Lust: C&J or Alden to add size 15 shoes to their inventory. Camelhair/silk bespoke socks (I know enough knitters that it's not out of the realm of possibility... but at $40 a sock, it's expensive). A Wang bicolour knit tie (which I know the GF has ordered me for Christmas...). Some of those gorgeous Rubinacci pocket squares.

Need: More staple shirts in pale blue and white. Going to try Tailorstore as my current source of shirts aren't of the highest quality (le Chateau in Canada) and few and far between in non-gaudy colours.

Want: I don't have any two button, grey suits... that needs to change.

Lust: Monk straps but I've been a shoe buying binge recently (just snagged a pair of AE Manhattan's on eBay today)

Oddly enough, I'm in the same boat. First first suit was a plain gray two-button single breasted suit. I'm at about a half dozen gray suits right now, and none of them fit that description. I have a gray three-button suit, but not a two-button.

As for the rest:

Want/Need: A pair of burgandy/merlot colored wingtips and a pair of brown perforated captoes. More odd jackets.

Need: Need is a strong word. If it's needed, it's purchased.
Want: A suit tailored in the LL's Eden in Paris cloth that's tucked away in the closet.
Lust: Nothing ... well, not in the way of clothing.

Want: superchunky wool cardigan. Something really rustic. Everything I can find is too flimsy/refined.

This is a great thread. Its made me think and I've concluded that I have more than enough clothes and shoes. Need: Maybe a few casual shirts at the very most. Want: Bespoke suit from Connock & Lockie Lust: A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 in platinum, Maserati Gran Tourismo.

Does anyone really NEED a grey suit? I don't need anything. Maybe some more light weight summer pants. Oh more storage space. I NEED that.
