So how do you afford it as a student?

I'm all about quality over quantity. I went to Columbia for free, on a basketball scholarship. And I had an eBay business for a while, selling and buying clothes. I just save and splurge. I have a running list of things I want.
What an interesting paraphrase of "Daddy's paying".

I'm sorry if I'm being dense, but what do you mean exactly? It looks better sitting there by itself and wouldn't really go with an outfit?

Just a bit of verbal sprezzatura....

Dan: I'll take a tie to get slimmed down and then bring it back two weeks later to have it widened again.

You can do this?

It means that pretty things aren't necessarily things that wear elegantly.

I'm giving Dan the benefit of the doubt on his asshole answers.

While I don't personally like his style (in fact flipping through his BDM page I'm dismayed whenever I see something similar to anything I own), I wonder what the response would be if he was a member here... even his over-thought, more costumey looking outfits are composed of individual items that wouldn't be out of place in WAYWN, he just needs to take everything down a notch.

Great contrast between these two though, despite the nauseating fashion talk ("camel overcoats are two years ago" etc).

I think the first guy is funny for aspiring to be a fashion designer yet refusing to pay retail himself.

Isn't that the truth ... from someone who has learned the hard way.

+1 ...or sharing to any other under-priviledged person(s). To win the prize, and give it away. This could translate into Foo-mania. May be a very wise move indeed. I certainly wish Mr Foo to win the contest!

Sure. It doesn't involve any cutting or surgery; just opening up, re-folding, and re-sewing for the most part. Tiecrafters offers this service, and I'm sure other places do as well.

Thanks sho'nuff and Arrogant Bastard - I assumed some cutting would be involved in slimming it, hence puzzlement at how you undo this.

foof will donate ask instead to donate all that money to the charity of his choice, becuase frankly, no one on SF wants anything from KC. Interviewer to Mafoo: "what was the hardest thing you have done to date?" Foo: "Isolating and winding down toxic assets for AIG FP was challenging, but I would have to say picking $10,000 worth of fugly Kenneth Cole clothes tops that". And I would like to congradulate Mafoo on raising the profile of well dressed chinese people

and contributing the the diversity of NYC! YOu don't have to cover yourself in LV, Gucci, Hermes labels to look good. Mafoo seems classic - it'll never go out of style.
