How was your roommate in college? - Page 2

My roommates was a nice guy to get along with and we shared similar interests but with totally different ways to enjoy them. I remember playing CCR one day and he loved it -- so he played it at barely-audible levels for 48 hours straight. He couldn't drive due to drug convictions but managed to get a DUI halfway through freshman year. Oh, and he lived off microwaved cheese sandwiches. The only other thing he ate was pizza with the guys across the hall.

I had two roommates in prep school. The first, whom I lived with for two years, was an okay guy. We got along but I wouldn't say we were especially cordial. He got booted out after the second year. I had always assumed it was for poor grades, but one fellow recently told me it was because he had shot one of the masters in the ass with a pellet gun. He did a hitch in the Marines and has mostly lived off inherited wealth thereafter. He was not at our 50-year reunion.

My roommate my senior year was a very bright, clever guy, and we had a lot of fun. We stayed in touch for some years afterward. I last saw him about 11 years after we graduated. He washed out of college after his first year, did a hitch in the navy and ended up working for the post office, as I recall. About 25 years after we graduated I got word that he was dead. I don't know the particulars, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it was suicide.

That is depressing as shit...

My roommate freshman year was a supreme geek. He's a physically large fellow at about 6'3" and 260. However he was all soft with an extremely high voice the belied his size. He would only ever leave the room to go to class, the bathroom, or dining hall. He would spend most of his time in the room playing video games or watching anime and battlestar galactica. His mom sent him care packages each month full of junk food, microwavable snacks/meals, and movies. He never once offered me any of his food although I would ALWAYS offer him if I had anything, which he gladly accepted. I took him to the gym once, it was funny seeing a massive guy have trouble with 85lbs on a bench press.

He got pretty annoying during the second semester when we all took Physics. He had taken an extremely similar course in high school with the same text etc. He would tell us very loudly that he didn't have to study much because he had been there/done that. We had good fun with him when ended up with better grades than he got.

I ran into him once after that freshman year. He was mostly the same except he said that he had joined the Anime Club on campus.

After that I moved into a house with five of my good friends from my floor in the freshman dorms. We all stayed there for the next three years and had a fantastic time. Huge and loud parties, we had a softball team, watching all three LotR Extended cut movies in succession etc.

I just got my roommate assignment; he seems like a normal, well-adjusted individual. Huzzah!

I haven't been at my apartment in 6 months since I had legal issues out of town to deal with. I just called to check on my bills from there-- my room mate not only sleeps with all lights/tv on, but also leaves the air condition on 24/7. He hasn't even been there for over 2 months.... cost ~$50/month.

It pisses me off because he doesn't have much money and gives me shit for being a crazy person (which I am), but when it comes to WASTING money on nothing-- it does piss me off.

My roommate was a pretty outstanding social guy... ran for student president, frowned upon smoking dope, made friends with everyone on our floor... pretty uptight too. I am mostly antisocial, misanthropic, smoke bowls and have a circle of 3 friends I have had all my life that all go to my school and they're really all I communicate with aside from my woman. I actually kind of felt bad for him being with someone so unlike him. I could tell he wanted to get to know me and shit but I really just didn't want to be bothered. Towards the end of the year we talked a bit more but not much.

My first roomate was a freaking psycho and kept a handgun in his drawer. As well, I'm pretty sure that he tried to rape some girl. One of those crime notices matched his description dead on. I mentioned it to his friend, and he told me not to talk about it. I switched roomates halfway through the semester. My second roomate was an in the closet gay guy who was extremely friendly and outgoing. It was kinda funny, because he was in SigEp and always met tons of girls. He was very attractive and women were always in our dorm, because he was in the closet and they didn't realize he was gay. It was amusing watching them try to make out with him and him backing off. It was also nice that I didn't have to deal with him having sex in my room. Third roomate was some 25 year old Mexican guy. He was amicable, he stayed out of my way and I stayed out of his. We were friendly, but didn't hang out.

Lived in an apartment through school. My first roomate seemed like a great guy until about 3 days after I moved in. Then the post it notes started to flow. I woke up on the forth day to a post it note on the bathroom door "it's your f***ing turn to take out the garbage d***head. Later when we were both home he was totally normal again, never mentioning the note. I stayed up late that night and watched some TV. In the morning, a post it note on the TV "TV too loud last night, couldn't sleep...keep it down".

Was he randomly assigned your roommate or did you choose him to be yours?

My first college roommate was your typical geek, although not necessarily too intelligent. He was a short but big guy with glasses. He loved movies and wanted to be a director. If he wasn't in class, he'd locked himself in our room and watch movies or anime all the time. He never made a real effort to make friends with anyone in our dorm or on campus. He was really annoying, like making weird noises when he watched his anime, or jumping on his bed when something exciting on tv was happening, or playing mind games by correcting anything I said even if it actually didn't make sense. I got so annoyed with him that I basically started avoiding him during the day, and coming in my room late at night (his bedtime was ALWAYS 9pm). He also was from out of state so I could never have the room to myself on weekends unless it was a holiday, in which case I'd be heading home too. I don't keep touch with him, but do have his facebook.

My current roommate is pretty easy to live with. He isn't too social but at least he isn't weird or annoying like my first roommate. At least now I have my own room so I can enjoy some privacy. Sharing a small room with the first guy sucked...he had smelly shoes that stunk up the room.

This "roommate" is what people normally call a "bitch."

Freshman roommate is now my best friend. I am currently at his house with him in Florida. We had some good times.
