We will host the Chicago meet-up on Thursday, September 24th. The event will be held in the Winter Garden Room at Brasserie Jo from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. http://www.brasseriejo.com/ Our honored guest will be Paul Grangaard, the CEO of Allen Edmonds, who will chat about the company's new fall line-up. If that weren't enough, Skip and Nick Horween of Chicago's own Horween Leather Company (the world's foremost tanners of shell cordovan) will be stopping by our meet-up. The cost will be $80/person, which will include a 2-hour open bar (cash bar for the final hour) plus hors d'oeuvres. Brasserie Jo is located at 59 West Hubbard Street in River North, between Clark and Dearborn Streets. This is convenient to the CTA's Red Line, and a short cab ride from both Union Station and the Ogilvie Transportation Center. Valet parking will be available. I need to have a final head-count and have everyone fully paid-up by Tuesday, September 15th. You can pay by PayPal (greatly preferred), check or cash. Please send me a PM with your name, and I'll message you back with my personal e-mail address for PayPal purposes or "snail mail" address for payment by check or cash. This will be a terrific event, and I look forward to meeting my fellow Chicago sartorialists!

Nice Choice ld. Again, I'm 99% sure I'll be in... but I'm going to wait for last minute to confirm just because my travel is up in the air (literally and figuratively). So... are you planning to use the MASSIVE amount of Lettuce Entertain You points you get from consolidating our cash to pay for this event to take me to Tru or L20 ?

Yes, yes, I am. How about the two of us sampling Monsieur Laurent Gras' cuisine (I've already been to Tru!), Ronnie? Or I can take a larger group to Cafe Ba-ba-reeba.

I've already been to Tru as well, so I would pick L20. I guess we're going to end up at Ba-ba-reeba now that I've exposed our plot! I should have PM'ed

Or we can take everyone (and their spouses/significant others/friends) to R.J. Grunts.

I will out of town starting on Friday, August 21st and returning to Chicago on Friday, August 29th. While I may have limited internet access while I'm away, please feel free to send me PMs and (more importantly) money for the meet-up.

I'll be really frank - most probrably I will come, cause I like seeing people from the board. on the other hand, I can't seem myself ever buying a pair of AE shoes, and I sort of wonder why I would be paying to listen to a sales pitch.

anyway, I most probrably will come, I'd like to hear who else will come before I sign a check.

This won't be an AE trunk show, GT. I made that clear to Paul Grangaard. He's there mostly to say a few words about the new fall line and to mingle (he's also bringing his marketing and manufacturing guys). Plus, the Horweens will be there too.

I really hope you can make it. You sound like an interesting guy and I think you'll have a good time.

Ron,

Too bad you'll be out of town. If this event is successful, me and some of the other guys would like to hold future events and/or have more informal get togethers in town.

But if you're going to be anywhere, SF is the place to be (right, Binge?).
