Value Liquor Recs

I am in college and am on a personal finance kick right now where I am trying to save/maximize to the fullest extent.

I tend to share my booze liberally, and don't want to be blowing money on Kettle One and Knob Creek any more.

What does every one recommend? Let's say ~$10-15 or so for a bottle.

I can start off and say Ezra Brooks is not a bad whiskey

Wild Turkey.

I actually really enjoy Canadian Mist for the price point.

CC or Wiser's at that price point, for Canadian whisky IMO.

tequila centenario reposado, or azul rum, el dorado 5 year old or ocumare white or dark or possibly ron abuelo. you will not find any calvados at that price range so that is out of the picture. a good mezcal depends upon where you are located sincethe distribution of it varies regionally.

Ezra Brooks for Bourbon and Dewars for Scotch. White Horse isn't bad either.

for vodka, I'd do Svedka or Luksusowa
Gin I'd do Gordon's (one of my favorites, actually)
Jim Beam Black is a solid value bourbon

At his price point, I'd suggest Milagro tequila. Silver ~ $17, reposado ~ $21

Tito's Texas Vodka. I never bothered with this until a vodka-snob friend of mine told me he likes it about as much as Grey Goose. And he drinks a lot of vodka, neat.

vodka - Svedka and Sobieski are both around $17-18 always under $20 around here for 1.75L. Perfect for mixers, not bad neat but definitely not up to par with Tito's Homemade but it's harder to find and slightly pricier. Then again, vodka is almost always for mixers when "liberally shared" with friends and smirnoff is almost always just fine, though I go with whichever is cheaper between Svedka and Sobieski. Bourbon - Jim beam black is around $20, and i personally like Old Grand Dad but that's a very personal thing. I just bought a bottle of Buffalo Trace for around $20 and I'm liking it quite a lot. I've heard mixed things about Evan Williams, but I haven't tried it yet myself. Others can chime in. Rum - I've used matusalem platino in mojitos all summer. $18 for 750 Tequila - can't help you there, i don't go anywhere near it. As far as sharing with friends goes, they'd be fine if you got Bacardi, Smirnoff/absolut/skyy, and Jack, but for about the same price i've found that the above are better. imho. ymmv.

Evan Williams is pretty good for the price. I don't mind the cheaper gins at all either.

Rum -- Gosling's Black seal at <$20 USD Scotch -- JW Red Wild Turkey for Rye and Bourbon (but Sazerac 6yo at $24 for rye if you can do it).

Old Overholt rye delivers the same shot to the gut that any rye would at any price. The Polish vodkas are superior to the Scandinavian (or, shudder, French) ones at any price point.
