ive been touting this all along.

not flat out out of shape like having an obesity problem , but perhaps long, lean lanky in some areas , you work, you play ball, so your body is presentable, but you dont obsess over the 6 pack and pecs. just a regular gut . find it very hip. like i mentioned in before. the whole men's fitness look is so dated. (and trust me, i dont say that because i never been there before. been there done that)

lucky bastid. Best I've ever been able to manage is a 2-pack. And that was training that took me down to 155 lbs. Now I'm back at 175.

yeah most i ever gotten was a 4 pack, but still was freaking slim, glistening and sexy . but man, was that work. it was when i was in my 20s and i had nothing better to do but work out workout, read mens bodybuilding magazines and go hang out at clubs like a dufus.

Hey- I just caught a look at the DWTS makeovers and they are really shaping up. I shoud take up ballroom dancing and skip the running/swimming crap.

Funny, I don't remember it being so much work though. I'd lift weights, run a few miles, play some golf, pick up the girlfriend and go out. Seemed pretty natural, until her folks started asking if I was on a hunger strike or some such.

I have actually noticed this so that article is not necessarily completely off the mark. Whether it's sociologically based as the article wants to assume, one can only guess, but I suspect it's a crock of nonsense from someone reading too much PostModernism.

I too am sad to say that the peak of my physical prowess was in my mid to late teens. I had the swimmer's build (even though I'm only 5'8"). But I had swim practice 8 times a week and lifted 3 times a week.

Ever since I've stopped swimming competitively, I've never been able to maintain the shape that I was in through lifting and running alone.

I think I am probably in the best shape of my life right now, at least in terms of all around health and fitness, which is interesting because I beat the shit of myself and overindulge in a variety of vices pretty regularly. I think it comes down to simplicity, balance, and overall moderation.

Same for me. I was way overweight but with regular workouts and eating healthier, I went from a 38" waist to a 30" waist in about 8 months' time, losing about 40 lbs in the process. I am not going back...
